Time to Live Fund

This is a lifeline for carers and can improve your own health to continue to care for others.

Are you an unpaid carer who could do with a break?

The Time to Live fund enables us to provide local unpaid carers from Angus with grants of up to £500 to help you take a short break which benefits carers and, or those you care for. This gives you the freedom to choose a break that suits your lifestyle – whether that’s a one-off event, a short break away, or enabling you to have regular time away from your caring role.

What can be funded?

This fund allows you to apply for a one-off grant for an activity/event/short break, piece of equipment or other forms of support.

Examples are:

  • A break away
  • Gardening equipment or furniture
  • Kitchen equipment
  • A meal out
  • Online study, classes, sports, exercise
  • Tutoring or extra support for home schooling
  • Gaming equipment
  • Arts & Crafts equipment or supplies
  • A TV, tablet, laptop, etc
  • Subscription to a TV streaming service
  • Musical instrument or equipment
  • Equipment for a hobby, interest
  • Subscriptions for audio books, magazines

If you are unsure if your break of choice will qualify, please get in touch for a chat about it.

Eligibility

The fund is open to unpaid carers of all ages from 8 years old upwards, regardless of who you are caring for. To apply for a Time to Live grant from Angus Carers Centre, Carers will have to meet the following criteria set by The Short Breaks Fund:

  • Applicants must be Adult Carers, Young Adult Carers or Young Carers.  A Carer is defined as someone who provides unpaid support to a family member or friend who could not manage without this help due to a long-term illness, disability, mental health, or use of substances.
  • You do not need to be registered with Angus Carers Centre to apply.
  • Registration is welcomed but should you choose not to register with us you will need to provide the name and contact details of someone who knows you in a professional capacity such as a carer support worker, health professional, Guidance Teacher, or GP.  We will need to contact them to confirm your caring role.
  • You must live in the Angus Council area.
  • You must not have received funding in the last 12 months through any Time to Live grant.

Time to Live is a funding programme of the Short Breaks Fund, operated by Shared Care Scotland on behalf of the National Carers Organisations and the Scottish Government.
