Angus Carers Centre would be very limited if we did not have the support and commitment of volunteers. Over 20 people give their time in a variety of ways. There are lots of reasons to volunteer, to gain new skills or add to existing ones, to give something back or to meet new people. All enjoy it and however little time you have – even two hours a month – you could volunteer and help to make a difference, to not only the life of a carer but your own. Volunteers are ordinary people just like you.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life and have the desire to give their time freely to the organisation and understand the challenges that unpaid carers face. We recruit volunteers from the age of 16 and our compliment also includes students, giving them good experience of the caring profession.
Board of Trustees –
Founded in 1996, we are a well established Angus wide Orginisation based in Arbroath. Our vision is that anyone who looks after a family member or friend, in a caring role, in Angus, recieves appripriate information and support to enable them to feel valued, supported and confident in their caring situation and to have a life outside or alongside their caring role.
The orginisation is governed by a Board of Directors and is presently looking to recruit new members to bring a breadth of experience and knowledge to the Board and to strenthgen the Board in specific areas.
Friends and Family Volunteer Recruitment –
“Our Friends and Family support group is specific for our unpaid carers who care for someone with substance use. This group is a lifeline for many people, and we are looking for a volunteer who would like to get involved.
We are looking for someone who is non-judgemental and understanding of the challenges that come with caring for someone who uses substances.”
Funding Support Group Volunteer –
At Angus Carer’s Centre we try to raise as many funds as we can so we can give unpaid carers in Angus as many opportunities as possible. We are looking for volunteers who would like to get involved in creating a new fundraising group, we are looking for people who are motivated and not afraid to get stuck in!
Volunteer Driver –
Throughout Angus we have an array of activities for our carers both adult and young, our young carers have weekly activities which usually increase during the school holidays and our adult carers have monthly support groups in each town in Angus. We are looking for drivers who would be interested in taking our carers to and from their homes to their activities. All drivers will be reimbursed for their mileage at an agreed rate, we ask that you have access to your own vehicle and a full UK drivers’ licence
Adult Carer Support Group Volunteer –
Throughout Angus we host monthly support groups to our Adult Carer’s. These groups are some of our carers only time away from their caring role, they are used as an opportunity to come together to look for support from Angus Carers Centre staff or simply have a good natter over a cuppy and a slice of cake!. We are looking for volunteers who would like to be involved in supporting our carers at these groups.
